HAPPY WORLD PUPPETRY DAY!

Le mois de mars est toujours une période de grand mouvement pour la marionnette. À Montréal, le festival Les Trois Jours de Casteliers vient de se terminer, nous permettant de découvrir des oeuvres d'ici et d'ailleurs. Dix-sept diffuseurs du Canada, du Danemark, de la France, des États-Unis ont pu rencontrer les divers créateurs. Une énergie merveilleuse et contagieuse était présente tout au long du festival. UNIMA-CANADA a pu profiter de cette occasion pour tenir son assemblée générale annuelle. Plus de vingt membres ont assisté à la réunion, en plus des observateurs. L'Alberta, l'Ontario, la Nouvelle-Écosse et le Québec se sont retrouvés autour de la table, ce qui est merveilleux. Malgré un horaire un peu serré, nous avons pu faire le point avec les membres et pour cela nous remercions Louise Lapointe pour l'accueil généreux. Les rencontres merveilleuses ont eu lieu tout au long du festival. Tous ont pu découvrir les artistes et artisans non seulement de l'étranger mais aussi d'ici, des artistes jeunes et moins jeunes qui font la grandeur de cet art au Canada. Jacques Trudeau, président sortant avait décidé de ne pas pousuivre ses activités au sein d'UNIMA-CANADA afin de se consacrer à ses activités internationales comme secrétaire général d'UNIMA-internationale. Nous souhaitons donc la bienvenue à Zach Fraser au sein du CA d'UNIMA-CANADA. Nous continuerons donc notre mandat, soit de faciliter la communication et les rencontres entre les marionnettistes canadiens afin de faire connaître la marionnette d'ici, partout au pays et à l'étranger.
Le mois de mars, c'est aussi le 21 mars et la journée mondiale de la marionnette. Je vous invite à lire le mot de Joan Baixas, artiste interdisciplinaire catalan qui a régidé le texte cettea année.

FRESH IDEAS IN PUPPETRY
La journée de conférence et d'ateliers présentée par Puppetmongers à Toronto revient cette année pour la 5e fois. La date de dépôt pour les projets a été devancée au 7 avril 2012. La date de l'événement demeure à confirmer mais la fin mai est à retenir pour l'instant. Vous trouverez toutes les informations au:

March always is a busy time for puppetry. In Montreal, Les Trois Jours de Casteliers festival ended, a beautiful encounter with the work of artists from here and abroad. Programmers from Canada, Denmark, France, and the USA got the opportunity to meet with creators from here and abroad. A wonderful and contageous energy was present throughout the festival. UNIMA-CANADA held its AGM as part of the festival. More than twenty members assisted in the meeting that also welcomed observers. Alberta, Ontario, Nova-Scotia and Quebec sat at the table, that was wonderful! Eventhough the schedule was tight, we were able to update the members. Opportunities to mingle were present throughout the festival. We felt the joy of discovering new puppeteers and artists. We would like to thank Louise Lapointe for the wonderful opportunity and congratulate her on the event. Jacques Trudeau, president of UNIMA-CANADA had chosen to remove himself from the board to concentrate on his international activities with UNIMA international. We welcome Zach Fraser, (Nova Scotia / Montreal) on the board of UNIMA-CANADA. The board will continue to develop its mandate, to facilite communications and meetings between canadian artists and to promote canadian puppetry, here and abroad.
AQM, UNIMA-CANADA section Québec presented its newest publication Marionnette, 3rd edition. A complete magazine on quebec puppetry history (as part of AQM's 30 year anniversary). A complete section focuses on international activities and UNIMA-CANADA and is translated into English. This document will be presented in Chengdu as part of the UNIMA Congress in May.
March is also World Puppetry Day (March 21st). We invite you to read the official text, written this year by Joan Baixas, catalan artist.
